Welcome to first time skydiving adventure

Why would someone choose to skydive? Why would you choose to jump out of a perfectly fine plane? These are some questions that might be asked when you talk to someone about skydiving. For me, it was something that I wanted to do for my 30th birthday. My mom decided to join me in this adventure. She enjoyed the floating portion of the dive and I enjoyed the free falling. As I describe my tandem skydiving adventure, hopefully you will find that it will answer most of your questions you might have about skydiving for the first time.

The location that I chose, Above the Poconos, offers tandem skydiving for first time jumpers. For those that would like to learn how to skydive alone, they offer classes for that as well. Someday, I hope to take lessons to learn how to skydive alone, but for now I am more than content with tandem skydiving. When you tandem skydive, you are hooked to a professional skydiver by a harness and four hooks. Each hook can hold 250 pounds. Therefore, if one hook breaks, you still have three other hooks that can more than hold the weight of the skydiver. The instructor meets with you and reviews what you can expect throughout your adventure. The first item the instructor will review with you is training.
